A bit about Yoshifumi Nakata.

My name is Yoshifumi Nakata.
I am a researcher working on qunatum information science and its applications to problems in physics.
I am currently a postdoc with JSPS research fellowship (PD).
I belong to Photon Science Center, Graduate School of Engineering, The University of Tokyo.

I prefer pretending to be mathematically rigorous rather than satisfying with hand-waving arguments, even though it makes the progress slow. Yes, I am just pretending until I can actually be.
Other than that, I am just an ordinary researcher standing on the shoulders of giants.

What's new in 2017?

♣ 19 May Our paper, entitled unitary 2-designs from randaom X- and Z-diagonal unitaries, has been published from Journal of Mathematical Physics.
♣ 27 Apr. Our paper about unitary 2-designs was accepted by Journal of Mathematical Physics.
♣ 17 Apr. I am going to give a talk about out result on unitary t-designs in TQC 2017, Paris.
♣ 10 Apr. Our paper about efficient implimentations of unitary t-designs was published from Physical Review X.
♣ 22 Mar. Our paper about unitary 2-designs was provisionally accepted by Journal of Matematical Physics.
♣ 20 Mar. I will talk about new implementations of unitary designs in the spring meeting of JPS.
♣ 13 Mar. Our paper about new implementations of unitary designs was accepted by Physical Review X.
♣ 28 Feb. I moved back to Koashi group in the University of Tokyo. Thanks and good bye to GIQ!

♣ 09 Nov. I am going to QIP2017 in Seattle. My presentation will be about new implementations of unitary designs, but it is a poster...

♣ 23 Sep. Our new papers are now on the arXiv. One is entitled Efficient unitary designs with nearly time-independent Hamiltonian dynamics, and the other is Fundamental energy cost for quantum measurement. I am excited to have two papers on the arXiv on the same day!
♣ 27 Aug. I am heading to AQIS2016 in Taipei. My talk will be on Friday.
♣ 07 July. I will happily attend AQIS2016 in Taipei. I am giving a long talk about decoupling with random diagonal unitaries.
♣ 05 July. I am going to TQC2016 in Berlin. Surprisingly, my presentation will be a poster, which is about decoupling with random diagonal unitaries.

♣2014.05.27 Our new paper Diagonal quantum circuits: their computational power and applications is now available on arXiv. It is a review article about diagonal quantum circuits that are highly likely to outperform classical computational power despite the commutativity of all gates. We also provide several concrete applications of diagonal quantum circuits in quantum information processing, which enables us to experimentally demonstrate quantum advantage by current technology.

♣2013.11.06 Our new paper `Generating a t-design of random states by using a diagonal quantum circuit and classical probabilistic procedure' is now available on arXiv.

In this paper, we have presented a protocol of generating approximate random states, called a state t-design, by using a diagonal quantum circuit and a classical probabilistic procedure, as the title says. Since a t-design of random states has many utilities in quantum tasks, our protocol provides an experimentally plausible way of implementing such tasks.
To this end, we exploit an approximate ensemble, a t-design, of random diagonal-unitary matrices in the computational basis. We show that, for generating such a t-design of random diagonal-unitary matrices by using diagonal quantum gates, it is necessary and sufficient to use $O(\log_2 t +1 )$-qubit gates, which is theoretically interesting.
